Passive Containers

temprify is your partner for the cost-efficient and eco-friendly transport of temperature-controlled goods. We've rethought the last mile to help you keep costs to a minimum and improve your environmental footprint along the way.

Conventional last-mile solutions for temperature-sensitive goods are inflexible, complex and expensive. They rely on external logistics, are tied to the price of dry ice, and produce tons of packaging waste and Co2. temprify's solution to the problem are passive containers specifically designed for the transport of chilled and frozen goods.

What Are Passive Containers?

The opposite of active packaging, which utilises external energy sources and power-driven units (e.g. in transport vehicles), is passive packaging (link: blog article). In theory, passive packing systems maintain optimal temperature ranges without requiring an external power source for the transport of temperature-sensitive goods.

However, previously available passive packaging solutions employed insulated transport containers that had to be either filled up with dry ice or lined to the brim with cold packs. Not only are both these options very time-consuming and costly, they are also harmful to the environment. At temprify, we have developed a solution to these issues using advanced and innovative technologies: temprify's passive containers guarantee a freeze duration of up to 96 hours – without external power sources, without dry ice and requiring just one eutectic plate per container to do the job!

How Do temprify Containers Work?

temprify has made the transport of temperature-controlled goods fit for the future! Our passive containers replace the need for power-driven cooling units inside transport vehicles and guarantee HACCP-compliant delivery of chilled and frozen goods on the same or the next day. At the heart of this solution are special reusable eutectic plates with extremely high power density and cooling performance. Thanks to the special design of our transport containers, it only takes a single plate per passive container to keep products chilled or frozen at temperatures ranging from -25 °C to +25 °C and for up to 96 hours.

Thanks to the compact and clever design of our passive containers, your chilled and frozen products can be stacked for the most efficient use of space inside the transport vehicle. On top of that, by ditching dry ice, you can improve your corporate carbon footprint by up to 90 percent.

Compatible Holistic Solution

Rapid-freezing our eutectic plates requires a blast freezer with a cooling capacity of down to -40°C as well as optimal air circulation. Most systems currently available on the market are unable to fulfil these requirements – which is why we have developed our very own pre-cooling system(LINK) to guarantee the plates can be frozen through quickly and thoroughly.

For maximum cost-effectiveness, we have designed our temprify containers to double as cooling cells for our mobile cooling racks, thus facilitating transport of large quantities of goods in non-refrigerated vehicles without the need for dry ice

Monitoring & Tracking

To guarantee that fresh produce and medicines arrive at their destination in undamaged condition, every link in the cold chain must operate perfectly. So, to make sure our tempriFlex containers are fully frozen and below their phase change temperature when taken out, we monitor them electronically. Data loggers (LINK) that are placed inside the blast freezers ensure there are consistent records of temperatures during the last mile. Our robotic processing unit then scans the collected data and inspects all parts for damage. individual elements for damage.
